Antarctic Worker Zombie
- Appears in

The Antarctic Worker Zombie, otherwise known as Worker Zombie (Laboratory) (作業員ゾンビ(研究所) , Sagyō-in zonbi (kenkyūjo) ) is a zombie type encountered at the Antarctic Base. They wear yellow uniforms to distinguish them from the white-clothed research staff. These zombies were infected by infested aircraft flying in from Rockfort Island. Antarctic Worker Zombies who are attacked by Moths will become "Parasite Zombies".[excerpt 1] Various guidebooks make sure to distinguish them from other Worker Zombies.[1]
Bomb Zombie

The Bomb Zombie (爆弾ゾンビ , Bakudan zonbi ) is a rare zombie type. The first appearance is in CODE:Veronica, where it has been strapped up by Wesker's operatives and is encountered by Chris Redfield on Rockfort Island.If the bomb that the zombie is wearing is shot,it will explode and damage anything within its blast radius.[1] A second Bomb Zombie appears in the 2002 remake's "One Dangerous Zombie" mode. This zombie's appearance is similar to S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team member Forest Speyer. It will follow the player across the game and blow itself and the player up in an attack, forcing the player to take constant detours.[2]
City Zombie

"City Zombie" is a label for infected civilians encountered throughout the streets of Raccoon City (or Sheena Island in case with Resident Evil: Survivor). There are a number of subtypes in the games. Resident Evil 2 features the "Woman Zombie" (女ゾンビ) and Male Zombies D, F and G (男ゾンビD, etc.).[3]

Cop Zombies are infected police officers still in their uniforms. In Resident Evil 2, they are known as "Male Zombie A" (男ゾンビA , Otoko zonbi A ) and "Male Zombie C" (男ゾンビC , Otoko zonbi C ).[3] In lore, they are armed with standard-issue handguns and are not intelligent to use them; however, they cannot be retrieved in-game.[excerpt 2] The difference between the two is that "Male Zombie C" isn't wearing a cap.[excerpt 3] Resident Evil 3: Nemesis also features a fat variant.
Crawling Zombie

While many zombies can crawl when fallen to the ground, Crawling Zombies (這いずりゾンビ , Haizuri zonbi ) only crawl.[2] A second type is also present in CODE:Veronica under a similar name (腹這いゾンビ).[1]

Father Zombie

The Father Zombie is a unique zombie type encountered on Rockfort Island. It is the infected form of Mr. Burnside, Steve Burnside's father who was infected with the t-virus as an experiment.
Graveyard Zombie

Graveyard Zombies (墓場ゾンビ , Hakaba zonbi ) are the result of infected people being mistaken for corpses and buried alive.[4] [5] [excerpt 4] [excerpt 5] They are encountered at the Spencer Mansion's graveyards,[2] the graveyard in Raccoon City and the one on Rockfort Island.[1] Their first overall appearance in the franchise was in Noboru Sugimura's BIO HAZARD DRAMA ALBUM ~The Doomed Raccoon City~ VOL.3, where the concept of Raccoon graveyards being full of buried zombies was recycled for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
In the 2002 remake, the Graveyard Zombies come in two types - obese and skinny - and cannot transform into Crimson Heads.[excerpt 6]
Hazmat Zombie

The Hazmat Zombie (防護服ゾンビ , Bōgo-fuku zonbi ) appears in the Umbrella Research Center complex. They are wearing protective clothing intended to prevent being infected by the t-Virus. They come in versions "A" and "B".[6]

Javier Zombies are members of Javier Hidalgo's Sacred Snakes organization who have been turned into zombies for use as weapons.
Modified Zombie

The Modified Zombie (ゾンビ改 , Zonbi kai ) is a Zombie type encountered in the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory, and were subject to experimentation with the t-Virus.[3] Visually it appears similar to the Naked Zombies, with added focus to irregular muscle orientation.They have more health and do more damage compared to other zombies.[7] [excerpt 7]
Naked Zombie

The Naked Zombie (裸ゾンビ or はだかゾンビ , Hadaka zonbi ) is a zombie which has been through surgery or otherwise experimented on. They always appear as castrated men with shaved heads and significant scarring. They also possess a slight yellowish hue.They have more health and do more damage compared to other zombies. It is interesting to note that the Naked Zombies in the 2002 remake will not turn into Crimson Heads.[excerpt 8]
Naked Zombies appear in the Treatment Plant stage of Resident Evil 0,[6] and on Laboratory B3 in Resident Evil.[2]

Parasite Zombies (寄生ゾンビ , Kisei zonbi ) are Antarctic Worker Zombies which have been used as carriers for Baby Moths. They only appear at the Antarctic Base.[1]
Passenger Zombie

Passenger Zombies (乗客ゾンビ , Jōkyaku zonbi ) are Ecliptic Express passengers infected by the leeches. They appear in two types - "A" and B" - and are only found in the Train stage.[6]

The Running Zombie (走りゾンビ , Hashiri zonbi ) is a zombie which can charge at the player with a burst of energy. If the player escapes out of sight, it is liable to fall down in exhaustion or return to walking.[excerpt 9]
Security Guard Zombie

Infected NEST security guards and Rockfort Island prison guards. The infected NEST security guards appear in The Ghost Survivors mode of Resident Evil 2 (2019), nicknamed A-gears, due to their protective bulletproof uniform.

Special Forces Zombies (特殊部隊ゾンビ , Tokushu butai zonbi ) are zombified members of Umbrella's investigation teams sent to the training school and zombified members of Umbrella's Security Service. Zombified investigation team members appear in the first four stages of Resident Evil 0, but don't appear in the Factory or Treatment Plant. They come in three forms: "A", "B" and "C", with the latter not appearing in the Train stage.[6]
